Michel de Rocca Serra was born in 1989 in Bastia and founded in 2014 "Orma Architettura" in Corte, Corsica, in 2014 with Alicia Orsini, François Tramoni, and Jean-Mathieu de Lipowski, after graduating from Marseille’s National School of Architecture. Alicia completed her degree with a specialization in architectural conservation.
‘Orma’ is much more than an architectural agency. It is built upon the united belief, need, and will of the four associates to perpetuate the connection between landscape and man. They strongly feel that architecture cannot overlook the spirit of the place and its history.
Quite the contrary, in fact, they shape and develop the project from concept to design, and on to final completion. Hence the project is the amalgam of concerted investigative research expressed through the construction, with the final result confirmation of the infinite process of the transformation of the site.
The four associate members of "Orma Architettura" are not at ease with the conception and realization of isolated projects, fighting against an empirical approach which is detrimental to the specific identity of the landscape and environment, preferring to promote an architecture which is harmonious and endemic. This dedication is essential as it legitimizes their work throughout time and space.
Their innovative approach has been widely lauded by their peers, expressed by the French Ministry of Culture’s award as one of the Best Young architectural practice in 2018.
Amongst their other awards, they won acclaim at the “3rd Edition of the Palmarès Grand Public Contemporaine” in Toulouse in 2017 (Habitat category). They have been nominated for national awards in wood construction in 2019, as well as the ADC (ArchiDesignClub) Awards in 2018 and 2020.
