ALEXANDER (ALEC) TZANNES AM
Director, Tzannes
Emeritus Professor, UNSW Built Environment
Alec Tzannes is the founding Director of TZANNES, an architecture and urban design practice. He has served as Dean of UNSW Built Environment and is now an Emeritus Professor.
TZANNES is recognised by more than 100 local, state, national and international awards in architecture, urban design and industrial design.
In 2014 Alec was made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to architecture, as a practitioner and educator and through professional organisations. In 2017 UNSW honoured Alec’s achievements with the degree of Doctor of the University honoris causa.
In 2018 he was awarded the Australian Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal. The Gold Medal recognises distinguished service by architects who have designed or executed buildings of high merit, produced work of great distinction resulting in the advancement of architecture or endowed the profession of architecture in a distinguished manner.
He is a current Director of the Judith Neilson’s Charitable Foundation for Dangrove, the Director of the UNSW Foundation Board, and the Chair of the Australian Institute of Architecture Foundation Board.
In 2019 The Hellenic Union of Eptanisians honoured Alec for his contribution to architecture and academic endeavours. He is a dual citizen of Australia and Greece.
Paul Jones
Director of OMA Australia
Paul Jones is Director of OMA Australia and has led OMA’s efforts across Australasia including the recently completed WA Museum Boola Bardip in Perth. Paul joined OMA in 2013 in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for managing and directing activities of OMA in Asia.
Since joining OMA, he has been involved in master planning, mixed use, residential, commercial, cultural, preservation, retail and interior projects of OMA in China, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia, as well as various research and publication activities of AMO. Paul is also involved in business development and contract negotiations for projects across the Asia Pacific.
Before joining OMA and relocating to Hong Kong, Paul was Director of Donovan Hill Architects, where he was involved in several cultural, institutional and commercial projects. He was principal of BVN Donovan Hill.
He has been elected a Queensland Chapter Councilor, Chair of the Queensland Practice Committee and sits on the National Practice Committee for the Australian Institute of Architect. Paul is actively involved in architectural design teaching and is Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland and a Registered Architect in various states of Australia.
Peter Dean
Architect
Peter is a prominent international architect and a Design Principal at Hassell. Peter is a respected leader who has designed and delivered many complex projects across a range of sectors including mixed use, commercial, residential, sport and entertainment, health care, workplace and culture
Peter worked in London from 1999 to 2003 before relocating to Australia and joining Hassell where he has led the design teams on internationally recognised projects like the Boola Bardip - New Museum of Western Australia, Optus Stadium, Fiona Stanley Hospital, one40william, GSK South East Asia Headquarters in Singapore and currently designing Chevrons Headquarters at 1 The Esplanade, Perth, Western Australia.

Ray Brown
Architect, CEO of Architectus
As CEO of Architectus, Ray Brown guides the strategic direction and evolution of Architectus as a leading creative design firm. A registered architect with 30 years of experience, he is actively involved in strategy, design and oversight of projects; working across multiple teams in mixed-use commercial, residential, education and cultural sectors.
Sensitive to how buildings relate to their surroundings, Ray prioritises the urban context and believes the best design solutions are underpinned by rigorous analysis and supported by open and collaborative client engagement. He advocates for design that is led by end-user perspectives to achieve commercial viability, efficiency and civic value.
Ray leads competition strategy and conceptual design and has formed successful collaborative relationships with many international architects; most notably with Christoph Ingenhoven to co-design the multi award-winning 1 Bligh Street and residential tower 505 George Street. He regards each new project as an opportunity for innovation, especially in sustainability and responsible urban development.
Adrian McGregor
Principal, McGregor Coxall
As founding principal of McGregor Coxall, Adrian has over thirty years’ international experience in landscape architecture, urban design, and environmental planning, applying his multidisciplinary expertise through decades of design, teaching, and authorship. Nominated as one of Sydney’s 100 most creative people, Adrian combines development feasibility, politics, culture, and ecology with a passion for design to create sustainable places in the built and natural environments. His design and mediation skills have been successfully applied to many award-winning projects that bring communities, authorities, and developers together. Adrian founded BioCity Research in 2006 and is currently developing a book about ‘Biourbanism’, a circular framework for designing 21st century cities that live harmoniously with nature.
