SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTSamerican-arch


ELIGIBILITY
Criteria for submissions includes any commercial, corporate, institutional, or residential building type or urban planning project, built or unbuilt in the U.S. since January 1, 2023. Unbuilt projects are eligible only when a client is named. Building types and categories are: corporate headquarters and office facilities, retail, hospitality, institutional, health care, government, transportation, educational, and residential and interiors of any kind, including renovations and restorations, and urban planning projects. Previously awarded buildings by the Museum are not eligible.
All submissions must be the work of American architects, landscape architects, and urban planners working nationally or internationally for projects both in the U.S. and abroad.

International architecture firms headquartered outside the United States are eligible to enter projects built, or to be built, in the U.S. or in any location if the firm has an office doing business inside the United States..

JURY FOR AWARDS
A jury of recognized design practitioners, business professionals, educators, and critics will review the submissions and select winning projects for awards. Usually the jury takes place abroad.

Previous juries have been held under the auspicious of the following professional associations: The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, The National Association of Finnish Architects, The Lithuanian Society of Architects, and The Norske Arkitekters Landsforbund, and The National Council of Spanish Architects. Each Submission is Juried Anonymously.

PROGRAM RESULTS
Selected and awarded recipients will be required to prepare either framed drawings or photographic panels and models for exhibition. The Museum will exhibit the awarded projects in an exhibition format and publish the selected winners on the Museum’s website. Previous exhibitions have taken place in Thessaloniki, Greece, Milan, Italy, Dublin, Ireland, Athens, Greece, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. A Gala Dinner and Official Awards Presentation takes place in Athens, Greece every September. Architects, associate architects, clients, developers, landscape architects, planners, contractors, and structural engineers are cited for their individual contributions. Winning projects are published in Global Design + Urbanism "New American Architecture" by Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. Winning projects are also published in Global Design News.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply you need to visit awardapplication.com Organization Page. You need to create an account applying all your company information. If you already have created an account for a past American Architecture Award submission please log in with your username and password. All required fields must be filled in. If a required field is left blank the form will be rejected. After a successful application you will receive an email with a unique ID number for your submission, a pre-invoice for your submission and a pdf document with all information in case you choose to pay with bank transfer. All final invoices are sending to all clients periodically after we check all transactions passed through correctly. You can always log in to your account to see past submissions or download your past invoices.

PROJECT DETAILS & MATERIAL


Credits
All information submitted will be included in all online presentation, exhibition and Award publication catalogue. Please ensure that possible changes or mistakes according to credits, images and project description may incur costs. During your submission please advise all examples given in every section to ensure all credit details filled in correctly.

Project Description

All project descriptions should be edited in English, should be ready to use in any type of online presentation or publication and should not be more than 1000 words.The ideal size of your project description text should not extended the 500 words in total. There is a specific text tab to include it when submitting so please do not forward it with email or any other way to us.

Project Images

1. ASPECT RATIO 16:9 (1920px Χ 1080px Landscape or Portrait).
2. ASPECT RATIO 1:1 (1080px X 1080px Square format).
You can upload images in mixed formats.
3. RESOLUTION: 300dpi/image, max 6MB per file.
The file names should use explicitly Latin characters. (Please upload 4-6 images)
4. FILE TYPE: JPG, PNG.

• All images file names should use only Latin characters
• If you want to forward Plans/Sections/Elevations pdfs or more images for the jury procedure or blueprints please use the dropbox link to upload. Make sure your dropbox folder is public so we can have access.

• All winning entries become property of the Permanent Design Collection at The Chicago Athenaeum.
• Projects selected for exhibition will require the physical use of the product or model for exhibition purposes.
• Late submissions add $100.00 USD per entry.

Submission Fee / Application


Paying Online
The fee is $395.00 USD per entry. You can proceed your payment at the last step of our application forms from awardapplication.com . Checks are made payable to Metropolitan Arts Press or payment by American Express, Master Card, or VISA.


Bank Transfers
Bank Transfer must include a $50.00 USD additional payment for bank processing fees.
