Drumback 2016-2017

Designers: Martin Ballendat, Ballendat Design, Simbach am Inn, Germany
Manufacturer: Viasit Buerositzmoebel GmbH., Neunkirchen, Germany

Innovation & Technology

Designed by Viasit’s in-house R&D team in collaboration with renowned designer Martin Ballendat.

Unique back rest: The first swivel chair to combine the advantages of both an upholstered and a mesh back rest.

The unique backrest concept derives its name from the manufacturing/assembly process where the mesh fabric is stretched over the curved “solid” back and secured in a similar fashion to the skin of a drum.

Sustainability

Lower cost of production, as the backrest does not require a foam cushion.

Lower cost of recycling, less component parts.

Easier recycling capability: The material of the back shell is of honeycomb construction without the need for the glass fibre reinforcement that is required for a mesh back rest.

“Cradle to cradle” 100% recyclable.

Functionality

Viasit’s own design integrated function buttons.

Simple, intuitive ergonomic controlled adjustment.

Electronic user guide: HTML5-manual, available as an interactive guide on mobile without installation of an app. Accessible via QR code on the underside of the chair.

Ergonomics

Unique seat integrated function buttons for simple quick and ergonomic set up and daily adjustment of the chair.

Backrest height adjustment easily effected whilst sitting on the chair by simple “clamps” on the backrest frame with infinite positioning.

Back recline adjustment via simple function button with lock, 2 position tilt limiter and free flow options.
