Contemporary Design Philosophy for Young Professionals

Designed with recycled materials, Z13 reflects the changing attitudes towards technology and its impact on the environment. The chassis is forged with 75% recycled aluminum prior to machining, reducing CNC time, material waste, and manufacturing energy. Z13’s striking new natural fiber composite delivers in the need to find more sustainable solutions for how the products are made and for the origins of raw components. Z13 has been optimized for the new way that the designers work, with future-facing performance, security, and collaborative features. Seamless audio and video performance, extended battery life, facial recognition and a camera shutter have all been prioritized with today’s hybrid worker in mind.

Form by Function

Z13’s clean appearance is accomplished with a robust, metal exterior structure that has been crafted without compromise in every detail. The edge- to-edge keyboard treatment simplifies the interior with minimal visual noise for the user. The narrow screen side bezels allow more focus on the display. The iconic communication bar helps users instantly determine the front and back orientation of your laptop, intuitively showing which side to open the display from. The bar also functions as a very easy-to-open shape with one hand, highly important for usability.

Enabling Better Communication

The communication bar encases progressive technology that helps the user in their daily workflow. Dual-array microphones with noise cancellation enable problem-free video conferencing and the high-spec camera allows quality photos and videos capture, even in dark environments. The IR Camera can be used for automated login by facial recognition on Windows Hello. The accessible physical camera shutter easily provides privacy protection.

Leading in Sustainability

Z13 is ThinkPad’s leading model anticipating sustainability-oriented specifications, soon to become the standard in the future. Implementing improved manufacturing processes such as forging with CNC 75% recycled aluminum results in reduced material waste, energy consumption and carbon footprint. Post-Consumer Recycled Content (PCC) is used for the key caps, battery frame, speaker, internal cable holder, and AC adapter. 90% Post-Consumer Content (PCC) is used in its plastic housing. Z13 also uses plastic-free packaging, including the retail box which is made from 100% recyclable and compostable bamboo and sugarcane.
