The Flower Dance of Illusion is a site-specific installation, designed around the Blossom Pavilion space and the “Blossom 2022” Spring festival theme. It takes a contemporary spin and a bold typographic interpretation on the classical Tang poem「⽉下獨酌」“Drinking alone with the moon” and the idea of「花團錦簇」(Hua Tuan Jing Cu) which describes a joyful and prosperous scene of colorful flowers in full bloom. The experimental type created for this installation is an ideological aesthetic and art expression based on the Chinese philosophy of “emptiness/elusion” and “solidity/reality”. The enchanting geometrical qualities was brought out through juxtapositions of different expressive forms and stylistic colours. The artwork seeks to ignite the audience’s imagination, through exploring spatiality, geometric shapes, light, and shadow, to create an illusion of a flower dance in reminiscence of spring blooms. It brings a new experience of the classical poem as visitors “walk amongst poetry”.
