The Patented Leith Foot & Ankle Plating System addresses critical surgical priorities with a hybrid system: allowing micro-motion to stimulate physiologic bone healing while prohibiting any screw back-out or fixation failure. The simple design does not require towers or cones to insert screws, which streamlines the surgical process and increases the reproducibility of results.

All foot and ankle plating systems other than Leith require surgeons to choose between either a system that contours to the bone OR a system that prohibits screw back out. The Leith system does both, so surgeons no longer have to compromise. Competitors' products require a tower or cone drill guide to ensure alignment of the locking screw; the Leith system can be inserted free hand.

Competitors' screws angle less than 30 degrees; the Leith system allows angles up to 50 degrees from the center of the axis of the hole and 100 degrees circumferentially. This helps surgeons to better capture bone fragments. Competitors’ locking screws don’t compress; the Leith hybrid technology locking-screw allows compression to the bone.

Competitors’ compression screws risk back-out and failure; the Leith system includes an anti-back-out mechanism. Competitors’ compression screws sit proud and prominent to the plate; the Leith hybrid technology compression and locking screw sit below the plate reducing the risk of soft tissue damage.

The system allows micro-motion to promote arthrodesis or fracture healing, without the risk of construct failure due to screw back-out. The Leith system doesn't require manually bending the plate before Insertion. The designers believe this technology will reduce operating room time, improve the speed of fracture healing, and reduce catastrophic back-outs and required revisions.

Lastly, since there is less required instrumentation, the surgical tray is universal and is able to perform multiple procedures without modifying the tray.
The Patented Leith Foot & Ankle Plating System is a huge leap forward in technology to allow fractures to be fixed in a more effective way.
