Designers: Joaquim Portela, Joaquim Portela Arquitetos, Porto, Portugal
Manufacturer: Joaquim Portela Arquitetos, Porto, Portugal

This set of coffee and tea pieces is part of the silo line - designed for the Portuguese Language Museum [currently under construction]. The museum, characterized by the cylindrical shapes of the cereal silos, had a decisive influence on the morphology of these pieces. Results in the design of a set of glass that essentially conveyed the feeling of lightness and transparency, but at the same time resistant and easy to use.

That means a set of practical pieces for daily use. the designers opted for the development of a double wall of Borosilicate glass, resistant to high temperature, with high resistance and high hardness – it's a recyclable material and allows the use in the microwave. The search for a balanced relationship between the various elements that makes up these pieces required constant control of the dimensions and the formal relationship between them. The combination of resistance and lightness gave us the premises to design this set of pieces.
