The brand’s second dedicated electric vehicle, the IONIQ 6, provides a personalized space suitable for a variety of lifestyles. Based on the streamlined design that maximizes aerodynamic performance and the spacious interior space structure of EV‒dedicated platform E‒GMP, IONIQ 6 realizes an ideal driver-centered space. In particular, the interior space of IONIQ 6 is completed with the concept of a comfortable and personalized sanctuary, proposing a new EV experience and diverse lifestyles that suit it.

IONIQ 6 implements the Brand Look design strategy that gives each model a unique appearance, like chess pieces. By taking a customer-centric direction, the brand designs with diverse lifestyles in mind rather than with a one-style-fits-all approach. IONIQ 6 is an electrified streamliner that realizes the idea of Emotional Efficiency by simultaneously satisfying the customer’s aesthetic and functional needs. The aerodynamically sculpted silhouette with simple yet sensuous curves offers a new typology for the EV mobility era.

IONIQ 6 demonstrates ethical and unique design through energy efficiency and sustainable material usage. IONIQ 6 design was human-centric from the start, with the interior space developed simultaneously with the exterior form. Efforts were made to maximize and optimize the interior space, stretching it at the front and rear, resulting in a unique streamliner silhouette and spacious interior.

The distinctive streamlined design is the result of close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. The team has created the IONIQ 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers a personalized place for all. Brand’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) enabled the designers to stretch the interior, front and rear, to create optimized legroom and spaciousness that lets passengers stay comfortable in the vehicle. The Platform also allows for a completely flat floor, giving expansive feeling.

IONIQ 6 has an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.21, assisted by its low nose, active air flaps at the front, wheel gap reducers, and optional slim digital side mirrors. Further aiding IONIQ 6’s enviable aerodynamic aptitude is its elliptical wing-inspired spoiler with winglet, slight boat-tail structure, and separation traps on both sides of the rear bumper. Even underneath the car, the endeavor to achieve better aerodynamics is evident in the full cover of the undercarriage, optimized deflectors and reduced wheel-arch gap.

IONIQ 6 is designed and engineered to seamlessly enhance our daily lives as a space to awaken people’s potential. The innovative interior is meticulously thought out as a cocoon-like personal space, enhanced with the latest technologies to create a safe, fun, and stress-free driving experience. The spacious interior, with sustainability and usability at its heart, represents a step forward for electric vehicles.

IONIQ 6’s interior is particularly developed to serve as a comfy and personalized hideaway.

Unlike other cars, the top of the door trim of the IONIQ 6 does not have buttons on the armrests or separate storage space. This is because the development team of IONIQ 6 considered interior space and usability, such as moving the window switch to the center console so that owners can configure the space according to their personal taste and use without being bound by a specific frame. Various accessories can be mounted on the door trim of the IONIQ 6 using a dedicated metal clip. For example, the sunglasses case may be mounted on the driver’s door trim, and the cup holder may be mounted on the passenger’s door trim.

The Dual Color Ambient Lighting allows a driver to customize the look and feel of the interior cabin by selecting from a spectrum of 64 colors and six pre-selected themes. The Speed Sync Lighting mode adds emotion to the driving experience by changing the brightness of the interior lighting in the first row based on the vehicle’s speed.

IONIQ 6 strengthens customer relationships by marking the top ranks in many car assessment organizations. IONIQ 6 is proving that it fosters creating a strong brand identity of the brand EV lineups by satisfying the customers in safety, lifestyle, and design.

The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) has announced the best-rated cars of 2022 in terms of safety. Last year was the independent vehicle assessment organization’s busiest-ever year, as it tested 66 new passenger cars. In a further demonstration of the brand’s EV leadership, the company’s IONIQ 6 Electrified Streamliner was awarded ‘Best in Class’ in the ‘Large Family Car’ category.

Further, with IONIQ 6, the brand is sharing the vision of a high-performance driving experience with EV with the customers.

The performance tune-up function applied to the IONIQ 6 is a technology that reflects the personalization theme in the performance field, such as performance and driving feel. Drivers can fine-tune performance components, such as electric motor power or accelerator pedal response. More specifically, owners can choose output (3 levels), acceleration sensitivity (3 levels), steering (2 levels), and four-wheel drive (3 levels, no 2WD specifications) according to their preferences.

The IONIQ 6 includes materials that take care of people, while the IONIQ 7 will showcase materials that are purely focused on nature.

In line with IONIQ 6's Ethical Uniqueness theme and inspired by today’s eco-conscious consumers, the designers applied sustainable materials to the exterior, including recycled pigment paint from end-of-life tires to the cladding and bamboo charcoal pigment paint to the body.

IONIQ 6’s interior is also trimmed in sustainable materials and colors. Depending on the trim level, these include eco-process leather (seats), recycled PET fabric (seats), bio TPO skin (dashboard), bio PET fabric (headliner), bio paint derived from vegetable oils (doors), and recycled fishing net carpet - the latter is a first for the IONIQ brand.

Eco-processed leather treated with plant extracts and dyed with flaxseed oil is used in the seats and other interior components.

Surfaces such as interior door panels and steering wheel are coated in bio-paint which is composed of extracts from plants such as rape flowers and corn. Sustainable fibers made from recycled fisher-nets are used in IONIQ 6’s carpets.

In the future, IONIQ will be a pioneer of good consumption and sustainability, showing how new cars can be made from the recycled discarded parts of previous IONIQ models for example.

Inspired by Prophecy EV Concept, IONIQ 6 is characterized by clean, simple lines and a pure aerodynamic form that designers describe as Emotional Efficiency. IONIQ 6’s electrified streamliner typology and mindful cocoon-like interior embody a silhouette for the new era of electric mobility, while the overall design theme of Ethical Uniqueness reflects the brand’s customer-centric commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The aesthetic and functional blend harmoniously in the streamlined silhouette of IONIQ 6. Evoking the naturally sculpted beauty of a riverstone with a simple, aerodynamic, and sensuous silhouette design, the Electrified Streamliner offers optimized spatiality and new typology to lead the EV mobility era. Light up the future with IONIQ’s signature Parametric Pixel design, which has evolved and integrated to reinforce brand identity in IONIQ 6. IONIQ 6 also integrates over 700 Parametric Pixels in various places, such as headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and center console indicator, to reinforce the IONIQ brand’s identity throughout the vehicle.
