The Oster Blender with Vacuum Technology removes air from the blending process to help users create fresh, healthy meals. Featuring an integrated vacuum sealing system from FoodSaver®, oxygen is pulled out of the blending process to deliver rich color, less separation, and smoother texture compared to traditional blending.

Blending without air also preserves 40 percent more vitamin C when compared to traditional blending. The blender includes a portable 24-ounce vacuum storage cup to keep blends fresh for up to 24 hours and give people the ability to enjoy healthy foods on the go.

Design Innovation
Knowing that vacuum blending provides more health benefits than traditional blending, we challenged ourselves with simplifying an otherwise complex technology for users. With a series of patented architectures in place, we were also challenged to package the technology in a way that’s unique and aesthetically pleasing for consumers. In addition, each touchpoint of the blender was designed to guide users through the blending process. To maintain the traditional blending experience, the user interface has a variety of easy-to-interpret settings: Blend, Vacuum Blend, and Vacuum Store.

To complete the user journey, we designed a 24-ounce vacuum storage cup that holds blends for 24 hours and can be taken on the go.

Benefit to User
Oster Blender with Vacuum Technology comes with a number of user benefits. Reduced oxidation The removal of air bubbles reduces oxidation, which in turn helps to keep fruits and vegetable from turning brown. Removing air from the blender slows the oxidation process and keeps produce fresh longer.

Increased nutrition The oxidation that comes with traditional blending has been linked to the elimination of healthy antioxidants. Blending without air also preserves 40 percent more vitamin C when compared to traditional blending.

Better Taste Reducing the amount of foam brings out more flavors, produces richer colors, and creates a smoother texture.

On-The-Go PortabilityThe ability to vacuum blend, and store saves users time when needing to grab a meal on the run.

Multiple ModesUsers can customize their blend or, by using pre-programmed modes, can let the blender do the work while they do other things.

Benefit to Client/Brand
The Oster Blender with Vacuum Technology has allowed the brand to enter into higher price points in the market. We’re already looking into added design benefits that will open the door to more opportunities for our retail partners.

When compared to other vacuum blenders available to consumers, ours distinguishes itself through elevated aesthetics, superior craftsmanship, and intuitive design.

Along the way, our design team overcame patent and technology constraints in order to deliver a simple, smart, and approachable device that complements the Oster brand design language.

Benefit to Society
The Oster Blender with Vacuum Technology is designed to stand the test of time. In an effort to simplify the device for consumers, we were able to reduce the numbers of parts and volume of plastic. From a usage standpoint, the ability to vacuum store blended foods reduces the amount of waste resulting from spoiled food.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of the device is how effectively it promotes a healthy lifestyle. Intuitive controls, easy operation, and the addition of a portable cup encourages users to enjoy a healthy snack on their own terms.

Appropriate Aesthetics
The designers began with the Oster brand values of simplicity, approachability, and durability. The design was then clarified through key details that celebrate the innovation. Examples include a lifted stance that conveys stability and completes the blender’s inviting silhouette. The touchpoints are clear and intuitive. The user interface has a clear hierarchical workflow to guide users through various functions. The mixed metal palette with black control panel works with the form to add interest without being busy or distracting; letting the technology be the hero.

The result is a premium device in keeping with today’s kitchens. With every considered curve, shape, and touchpoint, this is a blender worthy of attention.

The materials used ABS, Triton.
