The design of the HP Jet Fusion 5200 Series 3D Printing Solution integrates new hardware, data intelligence, software, services, and materials innovations into a complete, streamlined workflow solution for digital manufacturing at production scale. The system hardware includes the 5200 3D Printer, 3D Build Unit, Processing Station, and the Natural Cooling Unit.
The challenge was to design a Digital Manufacturing system for plastics production environments that delivers seamless, easy-to-use physical and digital workflows. The system must meet productivity goals via an end-to-end set of experiences for 3D print preparation, production control, and maintenance.

The system stakeholders were integrated into the design process through the development of Personas and included:
1. Production Manager/ Planner
2. Design Engineer
3. Technician - Advanced Maintenance
4. Operator
5. Business Owner

The design & development strategy was largely based on the User-Centered Design methodology. Customers and process stakeholders were directly involved in the digital and industrial design development of the total system solution through iterative workshops, and multiple design-test-validation cycles.

Essentially, the HP Jet Fusion 5200 Series 3D Printing Solution is the future factory-in-a-box!

Fully integrated and streamlined manufacturing workflow composed of software solutions, such as job preparation, job tracking, and analytics, all driving hardware solutions for automated materials mixing, enclosed processing, and natural cooling, resulting in full production quality 3D printed parts.
