In today’s world, being healthy often takes the backseat to being busy. With Versa 2, the goal is to empower you to live a healthy, active life in spite of the modern world’s demands. Versa 2 is the newest smartwatch in the Fitbit family, and the improvements to its UX is focused on convenience. It gives you technology where you want it, but only when you want it.
Sleep is a big focus for Versa 2 because you can’t perform at your best if you’re not well-rested. Inspired by requests from Fitbit fans, we designed a Sleep Mode for our smartwatch that makes it more convenient to sleep without disruption from your wearable. At bedtime, Sleep Mode automatically engages to silence your notifications and dim the display.
With an incredible battery life of up to 4 days, you can sleep on it again and again without remembering to recharge . This convenience drives better sleep data collection 1 and gives you the info you need to improve your sleep routine. Like its predecessors, Versa 2 tracks sleep duration and stages (e.g. light, deep, REM), but that’s not all. We also added Sleep Score to make it even easier to tell how well you sleep. A score between 1 and 100 is a glanceable way to get feedback on your night.
During the day, Versa 2 makes life more convenient with an easy-to-access global tray that houses music controls (lets you control music without touching your phone) and Fitbit Pay (faster payments, no wallet required)2. Sweating hard at the gym, but not motivated by the song streaming from your earbuds? No problem. Change the tune in 2 swipes. Our smartwatch also preserves the convenience of an analog watch that’s been lost with technology. With Versa 2’s always-on display (AOD) mode you can glance down and see the time instead of a blank, black screen. To design AOD mode, we played with pixel width and color to come up with stylish clock faces that don’t consume too much energy3. Versa 2 leads the industry with the longest AOD battery life span; you can go up to 4 days without needing to recharge.
Versa 2 lets you use voice to power an active lifestyle. We designed the built-in microphone to enable convenient voice features using Amazon Alexa. You can reach her with the touch of a button. Ask Alexa to create a reminder, set an alarm, start a run or find the nearest yoga studio4.
Our Versa 2 story doesn’t end there. Much of the operating system improvements on Versa 2 have carried over to our existing devices (e.g. Fitbit Ionic, Versa, and Versa Lite). By designing for convenience, we help the Fitbit community save time. And with this precious time, we hope you feel more empowered to focus on things that matter most, including your health and happiness.
