Spireworks was founded by Mark Domino in 2012 to encourage the larger public to co-create and connect through interaction and engage with symbolic moments and causes through the night sky. It is a revolutionary building-scale interactive lighting installation with a corresponding app that allows users to control architectural lights in real-time with one touch. Users can choose from a range of different colors and animated graphics to light iconic buildings in New York City, namely, the spire and podium of One World Trade Center, the spires of One Bryant Park, and One Five One West 42nd Street. All design elements encourage users to ‘look up’ while interacting with animations and haptic feedback engineering within the app. Its interactive nature makes it the perfect tool for raising awareness and donations for important global causes while delivering memorable experiences. Dozens of nonprofit organizations within Spireworks’s cause ecosystem, along with hundreds of brands, have participated in meaningful events throughout the year. Most recently, Spireworks launched a live streaming desktop platform that allows users to enjoy interacting with the spires with friends and family indoors as part of an effort to flatten the curve and raise donations for Global Giving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund.
