Miss Osculation 2019-2020

Designers: Yongwook Seong, Banff, Alberta, Canada
Manufacturer: Yongwook Seong, Banff, Alberta, Canada

Miss Osculation is to study the poetic beauty of Osculation, so called, the kissing act in mathematics. Osculation is the geometrical phenomenon where the curve is met with another surface in tangent. And the Osculation Circle is the indicator of the contact points met most closely with the curve.

The Osculation Circle is represented as a glass led bulb here, revealing a fragile relationship between the curved structure and the bulbs. The glass bulbs are not ‘osculatable’ with the curve due to their innate fragility, therefore retreating from the structure in reality.
