Buttering Board/Knife 2016-2017

Designers: Banovic Lovorika, Innovation & Design, Flying Tiger, Copenhagen, Denmark
Manufacturer: Flying Tiger, Copenhagen, Denmark

This set consists of a wooden buttering board and a knife. A buttering board is used to make typical Danish open-face sandwiches. The buttering knife is used for spreading butter, soft cheeses or jam on the bread. According to Danish tradition, everyone around the table gets their own personal set.

The designer was inspired by her 10-year-old son who designed the upright standing buttering knife. This way knife wouldn’t make the table smeared with butter and jam! She took the idea to heart, refined it and added a buttering board to the concept. An innovative idea - turned into a useful, beautiful everyday product.
