AR Maintenance 2015-2016

Designers: Telekom Design, Deutsche Telekom AG., Bonn, Germany
Manufacturer: Deutsche Telekom AG., Bonn, Germany

Task

All across the world, more and more processes are being digitalized and numerous parties can benefit from the effective use of innovative technologies. With a future-oriented use case in the Telekom Design Gallery in Bonn/Germany, we want to demonstrate the potential of Augmented Reality in the industry.

Idea

We show how Augmented Reality helps with machine maintenance – and visitors can use an example to try it out for themselves. The use case makes it clear how Augmented Reality can support everyday work with a unique user experience: Users receive information in the right place and at the right time.

Solution

Equipped with a pair of AR glasses, the user receives context-based information, instructions for machine maintenance and live support from experts. Innovative technologies such as real-time object recognition and holography are used in the process. Additionally, data can be gathered and processes optimized through the use of sensors, a camera and microphone. This enables tasks to be completed faster, more easily and more efficiently.
