Task

Sport is entertainment – and entertainment is entering new dimensions. Thanks to new technologies, fans can go far beyond the role of spectator. The trend is moving away from passive observation and towards an interactive experience. We want to enables sports fans a more intensive event experience than live at the event.

Idea

With the VR Basketball Experience, we take live broadcasting of a sports event to the next level. Virtual Reality enables the basketball game to be experienced in a whole new way – as a breathtaking 360° experience in the Telekom Design Gallery in Bonn/Germany. The spectator can get involved in events and benefit from additional features. Experience sport – better than live.

Solution

Via an additional level, the user can enter the game interactively and take part in a time-out with the players and coach, for example. Statistics and live information such as a player's pulse, deliver exciting additional input. Social media integration and interaction with friends get spectators involved. And just like with a visit to the arena, fan items can be purchased in the interactive shop.
