At Matrix, we have spent the last three years developing a cohesive collection of cardiovascular fitness equipment for the home. This commercial-quality assortment consists of five products including a treadmill, upright bike, recumbent bike, compact elliptical and ascent trainer. The design objective for this series was to develop high quality equipment that blended seamlessly with the user’s lifestyle and home environment.

The greatest challenge was maintaining a consistent brand language across these distinctly different products. The Home Series offering was designed to accommodate the wide range of fitness enthusiasts and their unique set of needs and fitness goals. In addition, these products needed to fit the user’s home environment and offer optimal accessibility.

The Home Series product line features unique new frame designs that optimize stability and provide unmatched ergonomics defined by natural movements. Our development teams created new technologies such as our rock-solid ‘Dual Form’ frames, optimized ‘Perfect Stride’ motion and joint-saving ‘Ultimate Deck’ cushioning. In addition, we have introduced manufacturing techniques such as complex metal stampings, detailed castings and sophisticated injection molding. These methods provide additional strength, fluid forms and improved touch points when compared to our competitors. Lastly, the Home Series is industry-exclusive by offering three universal console choices for each product platform. Users can select the console technology with features that best fit their needs.

Connectivity, approachability and comfort all play an important role in creating a premium fitness experience. You will find familiarity in our console interface as it hosts a collection of apps while delivering unique virtual destination experiences, personal training, data tracking and access to social networks. Our team focused on creating approachable entry and exit points through continuous and fluid forms. We dialed in the features you interact with the most through extensive rounds of prototyping, testing and observing. This attention to detail lead the way to creating an unparalleled workout experience that our customers expect to help them achieve their fitness goals.

Developing a line of Matrix equipment for the home has transformed our business. The demand for our product has led our company to acquire the largest fitness dealer network in the United States. Delivering these products at one time was no small feat. We amplified the participation of our sales, service technicians and manufacturing teams throughout the development process. This has dramatically improved our cross-functional department dynamic and created a high level of excitement within our global company.
