BRP’s Ski-Doo Gen4 platform is a new generation snowmobile platform that aims to transform the riding experience in the performance segment.
Ergonomics and vehicle architecture
In 2003, BRP was the first to introduce a rider-forward-position sled. Since then, the rest of the industry followed on same tracks, but somewhat all limited by the engine layout at the front of the vehicle.
Thinking out of the box was mandatory to relocate mechanical elements such as the engine block, injectors, patented air box geometry, and more. This resulted in a significant improvement of available space on each side of the power pack for the pilot’s knees which allowed an even further forward riding position. In addition, a narrow-seat approach in combination with body panel shapes created two knee rest positions for a unique forward-riding position. With all these elements making the pilot‘s input into the vehicle dynamics natural and effortless, the Ski-Doo REV Gen4 platform provides a thrilling riding experience.
All about the experience
Due to the pilot’s input into the vehicle’s dynamic being natural and effortless, less energy is required resulting in much lower fatigue levels. Combine this with the confidence gained from an enhanced control of the snowmobile, imparting confidence and precision, and the Ski-Doo REV Gen4 snowmobile delivers an unsurpassed riding experience. Snowmobiling also means dealing with the elements. All latches and control switches were redesigned to provide reliable feedback without the pilot needing to remove their gloves. A front storage over the engine benefits from heat convection. The rear part of the chassis is equipped with the LinQ Attachment System to quickly and easily attach extra cargo such as a safety kit, fuel tanks, ski holders and more, without any tools. The footwells’ open pattern design eases snow evacuation while providing a strong grip.
Responsible Product
With the introduction of the Ski-Doo REV Gen4 platform, BRP also introduced the second generation Rotax E-TEC engine combustion technology. Based on one of the industry’s cleanest technologies, the E-TEC engine, the E-TEC Gen2 engine’s fuel consumption is reduced by 5% and the noise level is improved thanks to plasma coating and precise oil distribution systems.
Simplicity
The design semantics also needed to bring freshness to the industry by going back on a simple and honest surface treatment inspired by the Ski-Doo brand legacy.
