Securing the University of Michigan’s standing as one of the premiere business schools in America, the new Stephen M. Ross School building is a world-class facility with an enduring local identity. Following Phase I of the project, the design team returned to the campus to replace or upgrade the remaining campus facilities, and to unify the campus in a common architectural language. The new project, Phase II, will provide equivalent state-of-the-art space for student services, Executive Education, career services, as well as additional classrooms and student study spaces. The overall business school complex offers new entries, new landscaped courtyards, a coherent circulation system connected major thoroughfares, and an integrated exterior and interior experience within new and renovated facilities. The Phase II project demolishes two buildings, renovates and reclads one structure, reclads and remasses another, and overlays a screen wall on an adjacent garage. Taken together, these design strategies will give the entire 615,000 GSF complex a complete transformation.
