Home Factory - Florian Faye - France

This project is located in Bègles and offers the construction of a new building of three floors, including 13 apartments and the renovation of a warehouse offering 12 triplex homes. The existing warehouse has an industrial feel to it, with its metal frame and bricks fiddled with time. It's past shows some emotion in a neighborhood that was built and transformed on the edge of railroad tracks, in the tradition of the suburbs workers.

In this context, the obvious architectural part of the project appears to be the transformation of the warehouse into housing in the existing volume. The new building recreates urbanity and overall coherence. The facade is dictated by the desire to reinterpret the history of the place, as the materiality of the project. The use of a mix of bricks on the new part of the building takes part in the making of the industrial past of the place.
