In 2011, the architects won a restricted international competition banded by the Quang Ninh province in Vietnam. The competition was looking for ideas for the cultural equipment in one big area in the borderline to the sea in the Ha Long city.

Ha Long Bay in the city is classified by the UNESCO between one of the most beautiful landscape in the World.

Is sad to recognize how much non-well controlled new construction can produce negative impact in the landscape.

This competition was the starting point to the popular and political interest for the new architecture and open the door to local discussion and publications.

Our work was later recognizing for all political leaders and the Ha Long people. We already finish in the area one museum of History, which was awarded with the Vietnamese Architecture annual prize.

This building is one general exhibition centre of investments, construction and architecture in the Province.

The building is done mainly in steel, made in one ship yard and transported by pieces, 4000 TM, in boat, 60 miles, until de site work.

The shape is inspired in some biological sea organisms and in the movement of then.

Geometry owns very much to constructivist and futuristic Italian artists drawings and nothing too de-construction or free fashionable today inspiration.

Strong new-old geometry will remain in the memory of the visitors and citizens. Is easy to understand and is representing movement and dynamic life in the sea.

The building is done by two clear pieces one “Shell” and one long building supported by the former and with one long shape, which today is called by the local people “Fish” and is genling touching the shell.

The “Shell” is a flat vault of 150 mts span.

The “Fish” with a long shape of more than 300 mts, contain the environment museum and other architectural exhibitions.

Our target was to produce one building with some pedagogical proprieties.

In the impressive landscape of Ha Long Bay is today a new reference of the city.
