Baratier - Nicolas Mallet

Baratier, France

Built on the southern shore of Lake Serre-Ponçon in the Hautes-Alpes, this vacation home is the fulfillment of a childhood dream by the owner as he adores the region.

The architectural appearance, the house's orientation, and the implementation of the project have been defined in relation to the longitudinal shape of the plot and its environment, generating a discrete perception of the house from the Chemin de Lesdier and the lands located in the South.

Made of two volumes with simple shapes, the project aims to integrate appropriately in its natural landscape. Thus, the main volume that hosts the living part of the house is a simple shape implanted in the plot's natural direction and the slope. An exterior covered gallery is protected from the sun thanks to vertical wood elements acting like a claustra. This claustra stops on the width of the South Terrace.
