Pink House on The Cliff - Clement Miglierina
Pink House on The Cliff - Clement Miglierina

Bordeaux, France

Part of Nicolas Michelin's urban project for Bordeaux's Wet Docks neighborhood, these 110 housings assume a smooth, dark figure, standing out against the sky with their distinct and steep shape, contemporary reinterpretation of the large constructions which composed the industrial landscape.

Yet the substance is inhabited, carved, and its heart opened; it unveils its insides, mineral strata, cliffs, and nuances of a landscape turning golden with the changing of the light. Across their nine stories, the housings are accessible through two rifts splitting the black shapes by the walkways dancing on this canyon's cliffs.

On top of the narrowest building, a pink house, lit by its own streetlamp, fits with humor in this urban landscape, open on its PANORAMA. It chats with the block's highest tower and declares its role as a signal architecture, friendly and lively, engaging in a conversation with its residents.
