The rehabilitation of former silos in the Bassins à Flot district of Bordeaux takes part in a larger project aiming to requalify the old docks of the city. As a developer, Legendre set the goal to preserve six cylinders in order to rehabilitate them into office spaces and a cultural center. What distinguishes the project is its location and its unique industrial heritage.
The uncommon spatiality of the concrete structure alongside Legendre’s expertise in contemporary concrete architecture (mushroom-shaped concrete buildings, prefabricated prestressed concrete frames, etc.), mark this project’s singularity.
The unique morphology of the silos guides the design of the project: the middle space integrates the chimney devices of natural ventilation, the spaces under the "funnels" are dedicated for the reception area and the cultural spaces and the upper level features a hidden garden with a view on the Bassins à Flot.
