The disused hotel Le Saint-Michel is located in the new train station district, led by ANMA: rehabilitated station, redesigned square, and mixed blocks punctuated by beacons throughout the city. It is a characteristic example of Reconstruction-era architecture in Lorient.

This existing building is part of a heritage block, with a concrete structure and exposed aggregate concrete façades. The structural diagnosis has recommended the demolition of the building. The construction values the building’s heritage by retaining the footprint of the existing structure and the materiality of the façades while providing large openings and outdoor extensions.

It also incorporates new low-carbon construction methods with the use of a concrete skeleton doubled with a timber frame. The ground floor hosts a restaurant, continuing the history of the hotel. The upper floors offer housing units with triple orientations and spacious terraces with large views of the city.
