GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2020

Announcing the exhibition about the legendary program of design and architecture, GOOD DESIGN® SHOW this summer on July 10, in Athens, Greece.

GOOD DESIGN® annually awards distinguishing designers through for excellence, creativity, and novelty; talented creators who promote the design as the art of evolution, the art of a better future.

This year, GOOD DESIGN® celebrates its 70th Anniversary with a tribute exhibition entitled "GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2020" in THE EUROPEAN CENTRE, Mitropoleos 74, Athens, Greece, featuring winning products and graphics from the GOOD DESIGN® 2019-2020.

The COVID-19 global crisis caused delays in every sector, including shipping, resulting many amazing designs still being on their way to our space. Thus, and in order to be able to showcase the wider range of GOOD DESIGN® awarded workspossible, we have decided to further extend the opening date and the duration of the show. The opening will take place on July 10 and the exhibition will last until September 6.

In conjunction with GOOD DESIGN® 2020, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design has announced that this year's Laureate of the prestigious American Prize for Design® is the visionary and prolific American designer, Karim Rashid, whose stunning designs will also be displayed in the show.

Under the banner "Build A Better World Now" designs for buildings and products that emphasize the most advanced green approach, product designs and architecture projects were awarded the GREEN GOOD DESIGN®, which will also be featured in the exhibition.

The GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2020, under the auspices of The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies presents Europe's leading designers and manufacturers, and highlights the most innovative designs from advanced electronics and furniture to medical equipment, graphics, and the most exceptional new automobile designs of the year.

A bit of history
70 Years GOOD DESIGN®, 1950-2020

In its 70th year, GOOD DESIGN® is the oldest and the most prestigious Awards Program organized worldwide. Founded in Chicago in 1950 by the former MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., together with such pioneers in modern design as Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson, and Eero Saarinen, GOOD DESIGN® honors the yearly achievements of the best industrial and graphic designers and world manufacturers for their pursuit of extraordinary design excellence.

The GOOD DESIGN® trademark is internationally regarded as the mark of excellence, recognizing the most outstanding and renovating creations in the design world. Since 1950, more than 40,000 creations have been presented with the award for innovation, sustainability, creativity, branding, ecologically responsible design, materials, technology, graphic arts, packaging, and universal design.

For over seven decades since its inception, The Chicago Athenaeum continues the organization of the program to create a revived awareness about contemporary design.

GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2020 will be presented in THE EUROPEAN CENTRE (74 Mitropoleos Street, Athens) from July 10 to September 6, 2020, with free entrance for the public.

The opening will be organized on Friday, July 10, according to the Official Regulations for COVID-19 announced by the Hellenic Ministry of Health.

All of the winning designs are also published in the GOOD DESIGN YEARBOOK 2019-2020 edited by Christian Narkiewicz-Laine for Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. and is available in THE EUROPEAN CENTRE's shop and at Metropolitan Arts Press eshop, here.
